The
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
is still in preproduction and there aren’t any specs being presented yet, but at least you can see the price points.
3.7L V6 FWD - $44,560
3.7L V6 AWD - $46,560
2.7L V6 GTDI FWD - $49,765
2.7L V6 GTDI AWD - $51,765
3.0L V6 GTDI AWD - $59,180 (this is the expected 400 hp engine).
So it seems to be geared at being a better and better value as you load it up compared to an Acura RLX, Volvo S90, or Cadillac XTS. I’d also toss the K900 into this dying segment of super fleet/rideshare sedans that will depreciate like an off lease British sedan. Good timing since the Volvo is the only real competition, we all want a Continental, and every RWD-based luxury sedan is trying to be as communicative as possible.

But why am I gonna pay 14k for the 3.0TT when the 2.7TT is 7k and probably moves the car just fine?

That is some really nice looking wood trim.
They call this jade, I call it sage, and I need it in my life

But why would you pay more to get the V12 in your Merc when the V8 is cheaper and moves the car just fine?

Because ‘moving the car just fine’ isn’t good enough for everyone. If it were, options like turbos, or even six cylinders wouldn’t be needed at all.

Because 2.7 GTDI = 335 hp and 3.0 GTDI = 400 HP.
400-335= 65 hp difference.
A 5.0 Merc V8 makes 302 hp, and the V12 makes 493 hp.
Or 191 hp difference.
One would be worth a $7,000 premium. The other, I would say, is not.

You have a good point but I bet the Merc V12 is more than $7k extra

5 trims, 3 engines, and 2 drivetrains is just silly, especially since it leaves them selling 45-50k FWD barges and trying to put Ecoboost torque down. Drop the NA engine and FWD, point the engine in the proper direction, and give it the 2.7TT and 3.0TT.

It can be, sure. The W220 market is crazy. There's a $10,000 price fluctuation based on condition alone.

Hm, pretty sure the price range of at least the top of the line model was known already? Also, after sitting in the S90 for a few minutes yesterday, I’m fairly confident that the Continental will have a much nicer interior. On the plus side, the rear of the Volvo looks great in rl.
